Brendan Shanahan seems like a good signing to me. Even better is the supposed way it happened, with him seeking out Sather rather than vice versa. It shows that the front office is sticking with their plan and not taking last years success as a sign that they have arrived (which they obviously haven't). The Rangers are two or three years from challenging for the Cup. Shanahan will help make one of those years more interesting.
