More than you ever wanted to know anout Bibendum, a.k.a. the Michelin Man. I don't think they mention why he's not black, though. Anyway, the history is weird enough to have a look through.
Be sure to check out the last section, entitled "The One and Only Bibendum". Here's a quote:
Finally, during that era, Bibendum was often seen in fours (and even twenties) in order to give a lending hand or just to express how happy he was. Yet whether he appears alone or as one of many, it has always been known that there is one, and only one real Bibendum!
In his capacity as a world citizen, you can be quite sure that Bibendum will know how to spread himself around, as the poet says "everyone has a share of him and all of us own all of him".
There's something hilariously bizarre about it that reminds me of adults trying to teach kids about God.
