Yokels

Does anyone know the details of the NHL agreement? Are contracts guaranteed or can players be cut? If a player gets cut, is the team charged (against the cap) for any percentage of that players salary?

I'm trying to figure out if this is going to be like the NBA where one false move can cripple a team for years (see Allan Houston/New York Knicks).
