Tonight's NHL preseason schedule features the Bruins vs. the Rangers in New York. It starts at 7pm, and will be broadcast on MSG.

Boston is icing what will pretty much be it's lineup on opening day, with the exception of some mix-and match fourth liners. New York will be without a handful of their best players, which is kind of a bummer. I'd rather see both teams at full-strength, beggars can't be choosers.

I'm excited to get a chance to watch Immonen and Dubinsky for the Rangers, and to see how Kessel plays on the top line with Bergeron and Boyes for the Bruins. Should be fun.

Comments:
I liked Dawes. And that goalie for the Rangers, whats his name.

Frankly, I though all the Rangers young players did well.

Tim Thomas played well, but the lone goal was a classic example of what annoys me about him. There was no need to be flailing there and a calmer position makes that goal into an easy save. Again, good game, but for the one sequence of freaking-out.

Kessel, Boyes and Frenchy were fun to watch. They should stick with that. Kessel looked great. I think a few teams will be pissed they passed on him.

Chara looked slow and soft (not really soft, just soft for Chara). I assume he'll crank up the hitting when the games mean something.

I was pretty disappointed, but I did like what Kessel did out there. I was pleasantly surprised. It's only one game, but before this I was firmly in the "keep Sturm on the top line" camp, and now I think they should stick with this experiment for a while.

The B's looked great on the PK, and I thought Thomas played a fantastic game. That flop was his ONE flop in the game, and it's forgivable. Almost all of his other saves were due to solid postiioning and calm play. I know we'll have this discussion over and over again.

Immonen looked decent, but I was definitely impressed with Dubinsky. He looked really solid, and worked his balls off. I don't know if he'll stick this year, but I do know that if he doesn't he'll be in the NHL full-time fairly soon. Great pickup.

Lundquist didn't face very many quality chances, but he still looked awesome. Lundquist and the rest of the team did a great job of keeping the puck out of the net in the last minute or so, when the B's had pulled Thomas.

Lastly, there's something to be said for a vocal veteran D-guy on your team who is willing to be a mentor to the young 'uns, and keep up team morale. That being said, did they really need to mike Aaron Ward? Great guy to have on the team, but exceptionally annoying to listen to. Every time they replayed his on-ice chatter, I just wanted to smack that dork. I did kind of enjoy him callung Tyutin "Toots" all game, though.

Really? I enjoyed the Ward commentary. I love that situational planning; if they do that, I'll do this and look to pass to you. I didn't catch the whole game, so maybe I missed the more annoying parts. Ward might end up being the best signing of the summer.

I've been downplaying Chara's importance in my mind all off-season, but that one hustle recovery to take away a break away wiped it all away. B's make the play-offs.

Fucking giraffe.
