Mountain Equipment Co-op : where all the crunchy chicks hang

Jebus, just see if you can count the fuck up things going on in this story.

Prediction of the day: "We are expecting that either nothing could happen or perhaps we could have an explosive event."

THINK ABOUT IT

Going Upriver

The email is out and should be in your in-boxes, but the choice for a hotel in Dublin is The Jurys Inn at Christchurch. La and I have a room there for just under $400 (dollars) for the three nights. That didn't seem bad. The hotel isn't super high class, but it seems above standard. The location is right and they have parking available in the area, though not on site. Online reviews are generally positive and someone in Ricco's office recommended the place as well.

We took some random person's advice and requested a 5th floor room facing west. Who knows, but it seemed like it was genuine advice.

Hey Alan, there is a multi-table tournie at 3:00 pm today. Registration begins at 1:00.

(AP) NEWARK - Police today warned all men who frequent clubs and parties to stay cautious when offered drinks by women. Females are using a date rape drug called "beer" to target unsuspecting men. This drug comes in liquid form and is available nearly everywhere. "Beer" is used by female predators to persuade hapless male victims to go home with them. Women need only persuade a man to consume a few of these "beers" and then ask him home for no-strings-attached sex, a simple approach that renders most men helpless.

After several "beers," men will have sex with even unattractive women. Often
men awaken with only hazy memories of the night before, a horrible headache, and a vague feeling that something bad happened. Some really unfortunate men are even separated from their life's savings in a scam called "a relationship." In
extreme cases, females have entrapped unsuspecting males into long-term servitude through a punishment called "marriage." Apparently, men are much more susceptible to this scam once "beer" is administered.

And if you, or some man you know, have fallen victim to this insidious "beer" and the predatory women who administer it, rest assured: male support groups exist in every major city where you can discuss the ugly details of your encounter in an open and frank manner with similarly affected, like-minded guys.

For the support group nearest you, look in the Yellow Pages under "Fishing Trips."

Bobby Clarke is in a fight with a player. Also, water is wet, clouds are white, and shit stinks.

I hope Roenick and Clarke settle this thing like men... With a duel to the death, followed by ritual suicide for the winner.

I knew what this meant, of course. I just had no idea it would be in the dictionary.

This will be a good resource in the coming months. I'd give it a left/right leaning indication, but I just found it, so I don't know. But the Swaggert video is hilarious, or scary.

"In making a work public, artists enter into partnership with their audience. The work succeeds insofar as the audience makes it their own, takes it up, understands it within their own unpredictable circumstances. It leaves the artist's hands and enters our lives. And that's not a betrayal of the work. That's its success. It succeeds insofar as we hum it, quote it, appropriate it so thoroughly that we no longer remember where the phrase came from. That's artistic success, although it's a branding failure".

Still got that DoubleClick stock? It might have turned the corner.

trippy, dude.

I've never heard anyone get upset to hear that basketball was invented by a Canadian. But so you know, he was a McGill student.

It's even on the list of reasons McGill is better than Queens:

#1: Name comes first on shared publishing house
#2: Something about rowing
#3: Alumni are better at inventing sports
#4: Name does not refer to Queens
#5: The hockey coach is not a whiner

Sullivan, here's an Ode to your boy with those annoying glasses.

Forksclovetofu from Spofi was featured in Newsweek this week for his music blog. I ran across the article last night. Weird.

I love me some CBC. I haven't heard of about 50% of these bands, which is always a bonus.

How's the injury, Mr. Linquist?

A Polish man married a Canadian girl after he had been in Canada a year or so and, although his
English was far from perfect, they got on very well. That is, until one day when he rushed into a lawyer's office and asked if he could arrange a divorce for him "very quick." The lawyer said that the speed of getting a divorce would depend on the circumstances and asked him the following questions:

No hockey makes me sad.

Fuck yeah. That'll learn him.

By the way, our place tonight... Crap kicks off with concerts (titties!!!) and what-not around 8:00. Be there at 7:00 or be sober!

Go Pats.

Since January, I've been gidddy about this weekend, which really starts today. Joe Gibbs got hired. Joe Fucking Gibbs, wearer of three enormous rings. He was back to coach my Redskins again. After years of hopes and frustration, I knew they were on the right track again, because Joe Gibbs is a genius.

In the late eighties, the Redskins and the Giants were heated rivals. The division title always came down to one of the two and it was usually a late-season game that decided it. Gibbs, knowing this, worked something into the first 13 weeks of the season that he could use down the road. He hung some meat on a string and let the dogs on the other side see it plain as day. For 13 weeks, everytime they rolled the QB out of the pocket to one side, he threw down field on a long streak pattern or a short crossing pattern. For 13 weeks they ran this play at least once a game. It didn't work all the time and by late in that run, I'm sure it rarely worked, but no matter. The hook was baited. And in the match-up against the Giants he completed his plan at just the right time early in the second half... Roll out right, stop, and heave a bomb back down the left. There were yards between the receiver and the nearest defender. Neal could have run that route and caught that ball. Hell, my grandma coulda run that route and caught that ball. Fun times.

And the fun times are back.

Prediction: 8-8. My optimism is tempered. The old man needs a year to get the feel for things again.
